Winter can be tough on outdoor structures, and without proper preparation, your deck may suffer from damage that could have been easily prevented. 1. Thorough Cleaning:
   Before winter sets in, give your deck a thorough cleaning. Sweep away debris, leaves, and dirt. Then, wash the deck surface with a deck cleaner or a mixture of warm water and mild detergent. Scrub any mold or mildew spots with a brush. Rinse the deck thoroughly, and allow it to dry completely before proceeding.
